Her love of country music led her to perform at the famous grand Ole Opry shows all over the South with The Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport. That helped shape the kind of show she puts on today. Penny released several singles to radio, two of which went to #1 on the independent chart. Her popularity spread overseas with more #1s in Europe where her traditional sound led to performances at festivals in Germany, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Penny has worked with many country stars including her idols Barbara Mandrell and Loretta Lynn. She has performed throughout the country and around the world in venues from The Nugget, The Flamingo and Bally's in Las Vegas & Reno to casinos throughout the United States.

Norman Schwarzkopf a copy of her song about Desert Storm ("The Line Drawn in the Sand") he invited Penny to headline at the homecoming for Desert Storm soldiers at Oceanside, Calif. in 1991. She performed for over 120,000 servicemen and women and their family and friends in the biggest military homecoming event ever held in the United States. Penny was so moved by the experience, she eagerly signed on to perform for troops around the world, logging over 300,000 air miles to entertain troops in Kuwait, Kosovo, Iraq, and Bosnia. For ten years in a row, she went to South Korea to perform for the troops, where she was honored as "Entertainer of the Year."
Known as the "Sweetheart of Country Music", this energetic, 5'2" brown-eyed blonde explodes on a stage in Kuwait or South Korea with a show filled with country music and a dazzling wardrobe that's become her trademark. It's a powerful combination that connects the soldiers, for just a minute, with America. Penny calls it the most rewarding thing she's ever done. Branson Masonic Lodge #587 has long been involved in helping the less fortunate of Stone and Taney counties, in fact for over one hundred years. With significant help local businesses such as Forever Grand Vacations, the tradition of giving continues. The CEO of Forever Grand Vacations proudly announced a donation of $500.00 to be given to the Local Branson Missouri Masonic lodge just in time for their Christmas basket program.
According to Herb Terrill, Past master and now lodge secretary, “These types of donations are a true blessing to everyone. To say that the money is well used and greatly appreciated by the families who receive the baskets is the biggest understatement.” The freemason have been helping Children and Widows as part of their charter for over a thousand years. Their long traditions stem back to the Night Templar, with the same oath to help their fellow man in need still holding true to today.
The way the program works is simple. The lodge collects lists from schools, social workers and other organizations that are familiar with which families are the most in need for assistance. The food and gifts are then collected with the help of donations such as Forever Grand Vacations and brought to the Branson Lodge. At that point, all the ingredients for a traditional holiday meal are packaged and delivered right before Christmas. Also in the basket are included toys for children that are appropriate to their age and sex.

Branson’s Nantucket has long been a supporter of many local and international charities including the Autism Society. Geoff Petters, operations manager for the lakeside resort proudly announced a new program they are supporting. “The owner and employees of Branson’s Nantucket are proud to support the Christmas basket program of Branson Lodge #587, the local Freemason fraternity. We have decided to donate one thousand dollars to this very worthy cause not just because the Masonic Lodge has always helped the less fortunate but also because the basket drive has happened and gotten bigger every year for more than twenty years to the direct benefit of local Branson families.”
Branson’s Nantucket was asked to support this worthy cause when owner Kevin Knasel, a Saint Louis businessman was asked to take part in local philanthropy. Mr. Knasel responded, “I have no problem supporting any program that makes certain families around the area not suffer this holiday season. Everyone at Branson’s Nantucket is thankful for the success that we have experienced and I can’t imagine a better gift than being able to help others less fortunate than ourselves. How good does it make you feel to know that you have helped deliver Christmas to a family who might not otherwise have experienced any joy this holiday season?”
According to Herb Terrill, past Master of the lodge, “The holiday gift basket is a large undertaking and the number of families in need has grown every year. All we do is try to deliver all the necessary ingredients for a happy, traditional holiday to as many families in need as possible. The packages include a turkey, sides, fruit, desert plus candy and toys for the children. These are people who are struggling to making ends meet and without our help they would simply not have a Christmas.” As Geoff Petter added, “It is truly our pleasure knowing that this donation will directly help families to have a real Christmas dinner with all the trimming and toys for the children. What could be better during this season of giving?”
